Snoqualmie Pass • September 13 2025 • 15K

New 30k option for double the fun in 2025!

This race, known as the Brown Bear Salmon Run, features an amazing course up, down, and around the Snoqualmie Pass area for 15 km or 30km.

In 2025, we will be hosting this race for the third time in partnership with Brown Bear Car Wash.

Snoqualmie Pass needs no introduction! Well known as a ski area in the winter and a mountain bike park in the summer, this will be the first trail run to be held at Snoqualmie Pass (that we are aware of!). The course will feature a fun selection of trails and Forest Service/Ski Area Access roads. For the final stretch of the course you’ll be exposed to stunning views of the expansive scenery around the pass.

Woodland Speeders Kid’s Race

As part of our  Woodland Speeders program, we offer free kid’s races at all of our events. Parents are welcome to run with their kiddos. You can register your child during the registration process for your own race or sign them up later. The kid’s course at Brown Bear Salmon Run is about 1 mile long. See below for map.

Moderately challenging run with 1900’/3800′ elevation gain at a well-known ski area.

Detailed Race Description

The Brown Bear Salmon Run race starts and finishes at the Summit West Base area. The race course comprises of scenic singletrack and 4wd roads. The run starts out along a pleasant stretch of singletrack. After 4 miles, the race course veers off the singletrack and takes you up a Forest Service Road towards the Summit at Snoqualmie Nordic Ski Area near the top of the mountain. After winding along on skinnier trails and wider nordic trails, you’ll make your way to the Snoqualmie Ridgeline on ski area access roads. The views are stunning along the ridgeline. You’ll follow along the undulating ridgeline or close to it with surprisingly enjoyable ski area access roads before you descend back to the Summit West base area to finish. 30k runners will head out from there on a second lap.

Brown Bear Salmon Run takes place on lands historically inhabited by the following Native American tribes:

 Snoqualmie
Coast Salish

We thank these caretakers of the land who have lived and continue to live here since time immemorial.

In 2021 the Snoqualmie Tribe launched the Snoqualmie Tribe Ancestral Lands Movement in response to the recreation impacts on their ancestral lands. Through the movement, the Tribe seeks to spread awareness of the importance of these lands to the Tribe, and how all of us as individuals can practice Tribal acknowledgement by recreating in a mindful and respectful manner. Please consider following the Snoqualmie Tribe Ancestral Lands Movement on Facebook or Instagram to learn more about it.”

This race is fully sanctioned/permitted by the US Forest Service, Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie NF.

Course Notes:

There is one distance offered for this race: 15 kilometers. The trails are a little more technical, so we don’t recommend minimalist shoes.

Please note that the trails will be open to other users during the event, including  pedestrians and cyclists on some stretches. See our FAQ page for more information about sharing the trails. In particular, the course passes along a small sections of the Snoqualmie Bike Park. Course monitors will be in all locations where we interface with bike trails to ensure there’s no interference. There will be a water drop and an aid station in the race, and the course is well-marked with signs at intersections. As always, there will be a good selection of grub at the finish to replenish you after your hard work.

This is a cupless race! All runners please carry a refillable container that you can run with for refilling at aid stations. There will be a limited number of cups for emergency situations.

Directions

As is often the case it’s tough to “plug in and go” for this race location. Using the Summit at Snoqualmie Address mainly takes you to Summit East or Central, but you want to go to Summit West.  Type “West Summit at Snoqualmie” into your mapping app to find the appropriate location, and then follow signs to the parking lot, located at the northernmost end of the entire ski area.

Alternatively, parking is at these GPS Coordinates: 47.425669, -121.417812

Better yet, just follow these directions:

If you’re on I-90 East coming from Seattle: Take Exit 52 to West Summit. Turn right at the fork, following the sign for Snoqualmie Summit. Take your first right, towards the parking lot, and follow the race signs by heading to the uppermost lot, closest to the ski hill.

If you’re on I-90 West, take Exit 53 which says towards East Summit. Go left under the interstate towards Snoqualmie Pass Recreation Area.  When you get to the “T” after the tunnel, take a right towards Summit West on WA 906. Just before you take the sweeping right turn that goes back under the interstate, take a left (or go “straight”) into the large parking lot. Make your way to the uppermost parking lot, closest to the ski hill, for race parking.
