Dash Point
Dash Point does not disappoint! This run has all the quintessential PNW sights: sandy beaches, and active wildlife. The course winds through Dash Point State Park — a 398-acre camping park in the Pacific Northwest with 3,300 feet of saltwater shoreline on Puget Sound. The start/finish area has many picnic/BBQ stations and is right by a nice long stretch of sandy beach. This is a great place to bring the whole family for a fun day by the water.
In addition to running, the park is an ideal location to observe wildlife, kayak, skimboard, or just relax and enjoy the sandy beach.
Course distances available are 10km and 13.1mi (half-marathon).
Parking accommodations for 2025. All 10k runners will park at the Federal Way High School and be shuttled to the start/finish.
Woodland Speeders Kid’s Race
As part of our Woodland Speeders program, we offer free kid’s races at all of our events. Parents are welcome to run with their kiddos. You can register your child during the registration process for your own race or sign them up later. The course at Dash Point is about half singletrack and half road. It is on the hilly side, with almost 275′ of elevation gain and is 0.9 miles long. See below for map.
Detailed Race Description
Dash Point is a super fun collection of trails situated right on the Puget Sound. A great place to hang out on the beach once you’ve completed your race!
The course starts near the beach and slowly climbs up and away from the water. The trails are well maintained and are great buttery single track to run. Around mile 1.25, those in the Half Marathon will have a separate short lollipop loop they’ll do extra on the course. At mile 2.25, you will hit the high point of the course at the Nightcrawler Aid Station. From here, it’s mostly rolling downhill back towards the finish. There is another lollipop loop to complete as well before you end the lap. The loop is 10k, so those in the Half will do a second loop (including a second “extra” lollipop as they did in the first).
Dash Point takes place on lands historically inhabited by the following Native American tribes:
Puyallup
dxʷdəwʔabš Duwamish
Coast Salish

Course Notes:
There are two distances offered for this race: 10km and 13.1mi. The course is one loop; 10km runners will do one loop, and half-marathon (13.1mi) runners will do two loops. The trails at this park are non-technical, cushy, and well-maintained; it’s an excellent place to use your minimalist shoes, if you so desire.
Please note that the trails will be open to other users during the event, including equestrians, pedestrians, and cyclists. See our FAQ page for more information about sharing the trails. There will be plenty of aid stations throughout the race, and the courses are well-marked with signs at intersections. As always, there will be a good selection of grub at the finish to fuel you up.
This is a cupless race. All runners should carry with them a refillable container that they can run with. There will be a limited number of cups for emergency situations.
Dash Point is a Washington State Park, which means that a Discover Pass is needed to park. See the Directions section below for more information.
